Casio UK is the UK subsidiary of Casio Computer Company and part of the multinational electronics manufacturing brand headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, founded in 1946.
Fluid worked alongside design and build partner Zentura to furnish Casio’s new London office at The Hive Building near Wembley Stadium. The project consolidated the company’s operations from three separate floors into a single 10,500 sq ft workspace designed to support hybrid working and encourage collaboration across teams.
The result is a flexible workplace that brings employees together in one environment while introducing adaptable spaces that support different ways of working.
The Project: Designing A Flexible Workspace For Hybrid Collaboration
Casio had been looking to consolidate their Wembley-based headquarters from three floors into one in order to improve communication and collaboration across the organisation.
This became even more important as hybrid working became part of everyday operations following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Relocating to the newly developed Hive Building provided an opportunity to rethink how the workspace should function and create an environment that better reflected the way employees now worked.
Working alongside fit-out partner Zentura, Fluid developed a furniture strategy that moved away from traditional rows of desks and instead introduced a variety of workplace settings that encourage movement and interaction across the office.
Furniture was carefully selected to ensure the workspace could adapt if requirements changed in the future. Particular consideration was given to minimising construction work due to the complex mechanical infrastructure within the building.
Air 3 and Campers & Dens office pods were introduced to provide meeting spaces within the open-plan office. These freestanding pods allow private meetings without the need for permanent structural changes and can easily be relocated if the office layout evolves.
Traditional radial workstations were replaced with electric sit-stand desks used as hot desks, encouraging movement and supporting employee wellbeing.
Additional hot-desking furniture was also introduced to provide employees with a variety of places to work rather than remaining at a single desk throughout the day.
One of the most popular spaces within the office is the tea point breakout area. Flexible breakout furniture allows the space to be reconfigured into a demonstration environment where Casio can showcase their range of pianos and keyboards.
This area has quickly become a central hub where employees gather for informal meetings, conversations and everyday interaction.
The completed workspace now provides Casio with a modern office environment that supports collaboration, flexibility and team connection within a single unified workspace.
